When Avantgarde helped Volkswagen choose six lucky rally enthusiasts and send them over Colin’s Crest, the most gruesome jump on the WRC calendar, things got really emotional.
In 2008, as a mark of respect for the late rally driver Colin McRae, the Rally Sweden organisers set up an award for the longest jump over a crest on the Vargåsen stage of the rally. To this day “Colin’s Crest” remains one of the most spectacular elements on the Rally World Tour. It was about time we capitalised on this emotional element of the WRC.
Avantgarde came up with the idea for the Final Stage: Select six winners in a Volkswagen Rally the World competition and let them undergo a “rally boot camp” with the Volkswagen Driving Experience, and have a professional rally driver take them over Colin’s Crest in a VW Polo R WRC.
Volkwagen set up the competition, selected six lucky winners out of several thousand participants, and organised the spectacular Colin’s Crest jump. We made the wildest dream of six rally enthusiasts come true. The result: a memorable experience, a social media buzz, and six excited VW fans. We truly lived up to the campaign hashtag: #ExcitementWeShare
