Oculus VR has created “Story Studio”, an in-house laboratory to create movies in virtual reality. According to a recent WSJ.com article, this is “a big push by Facebook Inc.’s Oculus to popularize its virtual-reality headset and foster a nascent but growing community in the entertainment industry.”
We are still big fans of the Oculus Rift, and like the idea that you will have to re-write storytelling so to speak, in order to create a captivating VR movie experience. Because, and this is something Oculus VR is all too aware of, a new technology in itself does not create fans: It is captivating content and a well-crafted experience that makes it a success. We’re looking forward to watching Story Studio’s productions soon.
