On November 5, Shanghai International Circuit played host to the final two races of the 2016 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia. While hundreds watched from the stands and VIP areas, the Avantgarde Brand Services team was busy behind the scenes.
Avantgarde and Porsche China’s combined efforts ensured a smooth execution of China’s biggest motorsport weekend as the Carrera Cup Asia shared the track with the FIA World Endurance Championship. As always, it’s a huge undertaking – but that was only the beginning! After the action on the track, the excitement moved across town to the South Bund, to celebrate the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia 2016 Night of Champions.
The Night of Champions is a yearly gala event that brings together the drivers, teams and technical partners of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia with management board members of Porsche China and Porsche AG, Porsche VIP guests and members of the media to celebrate another incredible season of Asia’s premier one-make racing series.
On arrival at the red carpet, attendees met some other VIP guests of the night: iconic Porsches like the 1982 Le Mans 24hr-winning No. 2 Porsche 956, the legendary Porsche 550 Spyder, and the No. 22 Porsche 917 that Helmut Marko and Gijs van Lennep drove to Le Mans 24hr victory in 1971.
The evening’s 300+ guests were then ushered to an indoor/outdoor mingling area before being welcomed to the main hall, where the celebration proper took place.
Proceedings kicked off with a professional dance and live drumming show, with the music synced with the floor-to-ceiling LED lights for the countdown to the awards ceremony, where Carrera Cup Asia drivers and teams were treated to Porsche China’s most glamorous event of the year – with the help of Avantgarde.
